A curious sight: a distillery on Kokusai Dori!
It is said that there are already more than 120 brands of gin in Japan, and more distilleries are opening one after another than we can even keep track of.First of all, what is the location, Kokusai-dori?It's only a minute walk from Makishi station on the Yui Rail, a short walk from SG Group's "El Lequio", and most of all, it's hard to believe that there is a distillery on Kokusai-dori, isn't it? When you actually go there, you can see the amber-colored distillery behind a large glass window facing Kokusai-dori!The distillery was established by Izumiya, a liquor store with its head office in Kamagaya City, Chiba Prefecture. The distillery was opened at the same time as the attached restaurant, "NAHAbare," which serves shima-buta shabu-shabu and bar. We opened the distillery in the same space as the restaurant in order to pursue the possibilities of gin as a food alcohol. We chose Kokusai-dori Avenue, a location that attracts many people, because we wanted many people to experience the combination of gin and food," said Yuji Takahashi, director of Izumiya, who is also the initiator of this project.I see, this location is very accessible not only to Okinawans but also to tourists, including inbound tourists.(Please visit us while sightseeing!).
