IKKON, an ice stamp developed by bar-loving engineers!
#World Topics
Eijiro Ochiai, developer of IKKON.
It all started with a bad joke from an engineer!
'Cocktails, the process is a bit like engineers making things. It may be a self-serving excuse from a bar lover, but ...... (laughs)"
This is how Eijiro Ochiai, President of Aled Co Ltd, the developer of the IKKON ice-stamp, describes the process.
He is the man whose love of bars and cocktails led to the development and commercialisation of IKKON.
Mr Ochiai is an engineer who was in charge of product development at a vacuum equipment manufacturer for a long time.
(He even won a GOOD DESIGN AWARD in the past!)
Since becoming independent 11 years ago, Mr Ochiai has been involved in consulting and product development related to airtightness testing, drawing on his experience as a businessman.
Mr Ochiai, whose work often took him abroad and within Japan, was also a cocktail lover, enjoying cocktails in bars all over the world.
It was during this time that he came across a block of ice cream with a legacy cocktail name engraved on the surface at SPEAK LOW in Shanghai and was simply impressed, saying "This is cool ......"!
A few years later, in 2019, while having a drink at a local bar with the president of a processing company with whom I have a business relationship, I asked him, "Can you process something like this?"and the ice stamp prototype was so good that the local bartender took him up on it and they decided to go ahead and commercialise it.
