Elegantly located in The Rocks, a tourist attraction in Sydney, Australia, cocktail bar Maybe Sammy is a newcomer that opened in 2019, but has been voted 15th in the World's 50 Best Bars 2023.It is a top-class bar in terms of both competence and popularity, having been voted 15th in the World's 50 Best Bars 2023. What has made Maybe Sammy such a popular bar?

The walls of the bar are decorated with retro photographs, including one of Sammy Davis Jr. from which the restaurant takes its name.

Origin of the unique bar name.

'Maybe Sammy' is inspired by America in the 1950s and 1960s, when it was at its most dazzling and shining.

At the time, the US was in its golden age, but apartheid (racial segregation) was overshadowing the country and black people were not allowed in bars and nightclubs.

Then singer and actor Frank Sinatra, who made his debut at The Sands Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and was also co-owner of the establishment, objected and the hotel changed its policy.

They allowed black people to enter and at the same time allowed black jazz musicians to perform.

One of these black singers was the famous Sammy Davis Jr.

The sign at The Sands Hotel and Casino at the time read "Maybe Frank Maybe Sammy" .......

Inspired by this history, the owner of Maybe Sammy named his bar Maybe Sammy.

Sydney is a multicultural city with immigrants of many different races and nationalities.

He hopes that people of all backgrounds will have a good time at this bar.

The Rocks area, where the bar is located, is a historic district where the first immigrant ships arrived from Britain in 1788, and where Sydney is said to have begun.

It may be a coincidence, but there is something romantic about it, isn't there?
