Satoshi Yazaki, owner-bartender of Sapporo's "farben," hails from Tsubetsu Town in Hokkaido.

Located in the Okhotsk region of eastern Hokkaido, this small town of about 4,000 people is mostly covered in forest. (The average winter low temperature is -15°C!) "It was truly a town with nothing much going on, but even so, I had a vague interest in culture like music and design," says Yazaki.

After graduating high school, he studied at an interior design vocational school in Sapporo. He then worked at "Provo," an antenna shop leading Sapporo's cultural scene, organizing festivals and events.

Through music events and running a cafe bar, he began to explore the world of alcohol...

Later, seeking overseas experience in his twenties, he utilized the Working Holiday program to go to Toronto and Montreal in Canada.

"While I didn't exactly build a career as a bartender, directly experiencing the bar culture in Canada and the US reaffirmed my decision to pursue life as a bartender."
