Now it's time to go to Tainan, where the 400th anniversary of the founding of the government has been celebrated!

Koji Nammoku, bar manager of Park Hotel Tokyo's Bar The Society, recommended A Hsiang, who runs Bar Home, Bar TCRC, and Bar Phowa in Tainan, as a Taiwanese bartender to introduce to Drink Planet readers.

Tainan is about an hour and 45 minutes south of Taipei on the Taiwan High Speed Rail.

It is a big city with a population of 1.85 million, but coming from Taipei with its skyscrapers, it has a nostalgic, tropical, laid-back mood.

(In fact, it is hotter than Taipei!)

It is no wonder, then, that Tainan was the first city in Taiwan where the Dutch, during the Age of Exploration, established their first trading post in 1642, exactly 400 years ago.

In other words, Tainan was the earliest city to be developed in Taiwan, and is therefore an ancient city with many historical temples and sites.

If Taipei is like Tokyo, Tainan is like Kyoto.

The heart of the city is the old city center, west of the Tainan Railway Station, where A Hsiang's Bar Home is located.

The city is centered around the old city center, west of the Tainan Railway Station, where there are three bars (Bar Home, Bar TCRC, and Bar Phowa) and many other bars, cafes, and restaurants within walking distance of each other.

Bar Home, where Mr. A Hsiang mainly works at the counter, is located near the Minsheng Green Garden, which can be said to be at the center of the city.
