Kamihate," which opened this spring in Okushibu area, is a new wave "neo-snack" bar with former bartender Aya Iwamoto serving as the mama.Kamishibu has become a hangout for bartenders after work every night, and we explore the appeal of this snack bar where communication can be enjoyed beyond generations, occupations, and nationalities.

Iwamoto is also very cool in her ability to brilliantly handle the young bartenders who come to the bar after hours to practice.She is indeed a former bartender!Teiji Hayama's work "UNTITLED" can be seen in the back.

Snack bars are attracting attention as a social gathering place, where customers can enjoy chatting with the unique mamas over drinks, communicate with other customers in an at-home atmosphere, and even enjoy karaoke.



In recent years, women in their 20s and 30s who are addicted to snack bars, known as "snack women," have emerged.



Snack bars have become very popular among inbound travelers, with tours of snack bars being offered to tourists as part of Japan's unique deep culture.



Aya Iwamoto, a snack moma and former bartender, describes the appeal of such snacks as "Japan's unique nighttime culture where you can spend time in an unpretentious atmosphere.

In March 2013, she just opened her own snack bar "Kamihate" in the Okushibu area.
